Our mission : in relation to the 1st annual Sojourner Truth Gala 2025 is to raise resources for the purposes of expanding our research and development in relation to our programs, initiatives and foundation operations. The education of the general public regarding Sojourner Truth and the equality and advancement of women as a founding pillar of our efforts. Utilizing both technology and grass roots projects that connect with community and coincide with achieving our goals
Passed by Congress 1919 and ratified on August 18, 1920 the 19th amendment granted women the right to vote. The year 2020 marked a hundred years that women were given the right to vote . (Edited) Since conception of this mission statement (erected February 2018 ) per the 1st Annual Sojourner Truth Gala , women rights have literally been striped away by the American Supreme Court justice in a reversal decision of Rowe vs Wade June 24th, 2022. Sojourner Truth was one of the very first woman in American history to stand up for women’s rights and its documented. She is best known for her famous “ ain’t i a woman speech “ in Akron,Ohio in 1851. Although a more recent account of the speech was transcribed just a month later by Marius Robinson. Though referred to as the “ Aren’t I a Woman “ version of the speech, there isn’t proof of her referring to either of these titles as part of her spoken word on this day. But actions on this partparticular screamed the obvious ( not to mention she also should her breast that day). Which would probably make her one of the 1st known exhibitionist on record. Nevertheless it was an epic event where she would be known throughout the world for standing up for humanity. At a time when women were disregarded as being equal. Sojourner Truth not only stood up for black women rights and minorities; she stood for all women rights and human rights. As well as helping soldiers in Detroit michigan enlist in the union army. So to commemorate this unthinkable accomplishment so it seemed at the time. Descendants of the Truth is attempting to raise funds to honor 10 women of diverse ethnicities. Who have contributed to their respective communities and society as a whole. We would present each recipient with a hand made Sojourner Truth medallion casted in ( Gold ) for it is : indestructible, pure and invaluable . Just as we view the recipient’s of this prestigious award as one who possess the same qualities and characteristics of this precious metal that virtually can last forever just as the spirit and energy of Sojourner.
Sojourner Truth always had a vision/ dream to see women of all ethnicities especially minorities treated fair and equal. We must never forget the vital role women have played in building our nations and the countless contributions they have made throughout our history assisted by or and assistant to great men that help shape this country.
