Lateef "Cal" Calloway was born August 5, 1971 in Detroit, Michigan. Lateef graduated from Michigan's oldest and most respected film school, the Motion Picture Institute. He is the founder of the Phoeion Group LLC (dba Calliwood Productions LLC) which since 1999 has produced over 26 creative films, technical training films and videos.
The Calliwood Production team is producing the feature bio-pic film on the life and times of Sojourner Truth, the former slave, abolitionist and woman's rights advocate from the 1800s. With a working title SoTru(TM), the movie's co-producers include Mr. Calloway, Gloria Steinem, Lynda Weinman, Chaz Ebert and Katheryn McDermott. Ms. Steinem joined the SoTru team in 2015, opening many doors for the team in the preproduction phase. The SoTru film's treatment and draft script are complete, registered and copyrighted. Over 85% of the film's shoot locations are identified and secured. Several A-list actors express interest in playing roles in the film.
Lateef was raised by his mother Audrey Allison and his stepfather Robert Allison who are professional musicians. His parent's non-profit organization The Storytellers (1980 to date) uses jazz/world music to creatively tell stories, recite poetry and promote civil rights through song. The Storytellers bring their creativity in music to educate and promote positive role models for children in schools and communities throughout Michigan. In this environment, Lateef developed his passion for the art of storytelling.
Lateef is the father of two wonderful sons, Brendan Calloway and Roman Calloway.

Cory Mcliechey was born in GrandRapids,MI February 9 th ,1973. He is the youngest of 9 siblings just as his great great grandmother Sophia was the youngest of Sojourners children. He is also the owner of Top Notch Painting LLC and president of Descendants of the Truth Foundation , a nonprofit organization who’s sole agenda is to educate the youth on their history while trying to teach them life skills in the process. Cory has been a community activists for many years following in the footsteps of his ancestors. He is also an accomplished artist and now a newly published author with the release of his 1st children’s book in honor of his great (5) grandmother Sojourner Truth respectfully titled “ Keeping the Truth Alive “. Cory is very passionate about his Top Notch Kids program which is geared towards showing the youth how to properly use and operate these particular gun tools of the home improvement industry as a means to potentially make money from a skill trade that they can develop through training. At the same time we ultimately are trying to change the narrative of the gun. Where our motto is “ We don’t kill with guns We build with guns “!

The Descendants of Truth Team is in the process of securing a location for the Sojourner Truth Museum Project in downtown Battle Creek, MI. When secure, this site will be the new home of all artifacts and memorabilia collected over the years from our family historians. Sojourner Truth was known for her famous speech “Ain’t I a Woman” (among many amazing accomplishments) delivered at a women’s convention in Akron, OH. Several potential sites have already been researched and visited. We understand that upon the acquisition of this site, renovation may be necessary. With a collective effort, we feel confident that we can keep the TRUTH alive for many generations to come. Please find it in your heart to support the legacy of one of the greatest women in American history. Thank you.
It all started as a friendly conversation in a break room at my place of employment. I was the “butt” of the joke as my coworkers teased me about the connections I seemingly didn’t have. What no one expected was for Lateef “Cal” Calloway to google my name. When he discovered my lineage, let’s just say the joke was on them.lol Instant
It all started as a friendly conversation in a break room at my place of employment. I was the “butt” of the joke as my coworkers teased me about the connections I seemingly didn’t have. What no one expected was for Lateef “Cal” Calloway to google my name. When he discovered my lineage, let’s just say the joke was on them.lol Instantly, Cal and I became good friends as he shared with me the fact that he was familiar with Sojourner Truth based on the fact that his mother played in a band made up of all women named after Sojourner. Cal then expressed how he wanted to make a movie about Sojourner. Of course, I thought he was bluffing, but his passion seemed genuine, and after spontaneously jumping on a flight to L.A. to attend the Oscar Awards, I knew two things about Calloway. He was crazy, but he was serious. Cal was “crazy” in the sense that nothing was off the table in his attempt to make this movie happen. After getting the blessings from my cousin Burl Mcliechey (Speaker on behalf of the Descendants along with Thomas Mcliechey who is the family historian) we promoted and networked gaining the interest of Gloria Steinem via social media. Through this connection, we were introduced to investors willing to help raise the capital for pre-production scheduled to start Spring of 2019.
If you are interested in supporting this endeavor, please subscribe and become a member. You can also help by simply spreading the word and/or donating to this extraordinary project that will undoubtedly be one of the greatest films produced about a single woman who despite her own suffering, stood for the rights of all humanity. #IAMSOJOURNERTRUTH

Top Notch Kids is a personal vision and community engagement effort to encourage and inspire youth ages 8 to 17 years of age to help revitalize their neighborhoods making the infrastructure more energy efficient and LEED Certified as well as safer for residents. As we know, crime, poverty, vandalism, and violence have no boundaries. Gun violence in schools has also been on the rise. Top Notch Kids provides a fun, positive, and safe alternative to this culture of violence.
Although the history of the gun has been one filled with the taking of life and the destruction of communities, Top Notch Kids will change the narrative of the gun and how it effects our communities by providing real life opportunities to save lives and revitalize communities using the “GUNS” of home improvement. Not only does this community effort allow for residents to take part in the beautification of their communities making them more attractive to new businesses and various investments, but it also allows for children to attain a valuable skill set which helps with career readiness and future orientation. Our motto is “We don’t kill with guns, we build with guns” as they learn how to improve the conditions of their community with caulk guns, staple guns, nail guns, and paint guns! 501c3 charity nonprofit

This is a blunt and unsuspecting question we ask our youth from time to time to help the youth remember our motto .

June 17, 2005 Jennifer Granholm and the Michigan legislator officially made Nov 26th Sojourner Truth day in Michigan ( a statewide holiday). Although almost no one recognizes it or maybe even aren’t aware of it. During this era a census wasn’t taken and her date of birth is unknown so her day of death is celebrated as her day of birth as her legacy was perpetuated on this day and continues to live on !
